Some of Zambia’s top tourist destinations are;

Livingstone & Victoria Falls

Livingstone is a great base from which to enjoy the Zambezi River, and visit the fabulous Victoria Falls, which is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. Its proximity to the allure of the Zambezi River as well as the hugely popular Victoria Falls, make it a favoured attraction for tourists. It is fast becoming the adventure capital of Southern Africa with a massive variety of outdoor activities to enjoy. Some of these spectacular outdoor activities that attract tourists to the town of Livingstone include: white water rafting, canoeing, horse riding, bungee jumping, boat cruises, walking with lions, elephant back safaris and quad bike riding.

Livingstone’s  accommodation includes luxurious hotels, sophisticated riverside lodges and villas, and the more economic bed and breakfasts guest houses, camping and backpackers. Some of the accommodation in Livingstone is located within the town while there are quite a few options on the banks of the upper Zambezi River as well as close to Victoria Falls and on the edges of the Batoka Gorge, on the Zambian side.

The Imagine Zambia team has first-hand information about all the lodges, hotels and camps in Livingstone and we are the right team to handle your weekend safari to Livingstone & the Vic Falls.

South Luangwa National Park

The South Luangwa National Park is one of Africa’s best-kept secrets. It is Zambia’s premier National Park and has been dubbed one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world. The concentration of game along the Luangwa River and its associated Ox-bow lagoons is amongst the most intense anywhere in Africa. It is truly an unspoilt wilderness, the likes of which are hard to find.

The Luangwa River itself, meandering across the valley floor, is teaming with hippos and crocodiles and provides a lifeline for a great diversity of both habitat and wildlife. With over 40 species of large mammals and more than 400 species of birds, the South Luangwa National Park has earned its reputation. It is home to two endemic species, the Thornicroft Giraffe and Cookson’s Wildebeest and is one of the best Parks in Africa to view leopards in their natural surroundings.

Apart from its wildlife, the Luangwa Valley is also renowned for its high levels of guiding, something that any visitor to the area will appreciate. Accommodation in the South Luangwa can be either in a permanent lodge, one of the smaller remote bush camps, rebuilt every year.

We personally know all the safari operators found in this area and no one can put together a better South Luangwa weekend safari itinerary for you than us.

Siavonga (Lake Kariba)

Siavonga is fast becoming one of the famous tourist destinations in Zambia and no doubt the perfect place for a short break such as a weekend safari.

The area’s main attraction is Lake Kariba and there are several comfortable hotels and lodges in Siavonga catering for a variety of needs and budgets. This destination also offers a variety of tours and activities including, boating, fishing, sunset cruises, canoeing, water sports, walking, bird watching, cultural village tours, visits to the Dam Wall and Power Station.

The Imagine Zambia team has first-hand information about all the lodges, hotels and camps in this area and we are the right team to handle your weekend safari to Siavonga & Lake Kariba.

The Lower Zambezi National Park

The Lower Zambezi National Park lies nestled between an impressive escarpment to the north and the mighty Zambezi River to the South. The escarpment acts as a barrier for the game, keeping it on the plains and in the rich woodland on the bank of the river.

Situated just south east of Lusaka, access by road is possible but there are some local airlines offering scheduled and chartered flights to the area.

The Park is rich in wildlife, with large herds of buffalo, and great elephant viewing available to most visitors. Lions are numerous and leopard sightings common. Perhaps the most exciting aspect of game viewing in the Lower Zambezi is the variety of activities on offer. Unlike the Luangwa, the Zambezi is navigable year round so most camps offer a full variety of water activities alongside their standard walking and driving options.

There is one quote which possibly sums up the Lower Zambezi better than any other: “This Park is so beautiful that it is hard to know which to admire more – the scenery or the wild animals”.

Accommodation in the Lower Zambezi comes in various forms ranging from luxurious camps through to the budget ones.

We personally know all the safari operators found in this area and no one can put together a better Lower Zambezi weekend safari itinerary for you than us.

Kafue National Park

This is Africa’s third largest National Park and it covers an area of over 22,000 square kilometers in Western Zambia. The Kafue River and its numerous tributaries supply water to a diversity of habitats, with extensive riverine woodland opening out at intervals to wide grassy plains.

The Busanga is a vast floodplain system in the north-west of the Park fed by the Lufupa River. There are some camps in this region which are open in the dryer months of June to November. Kafue has seen increased investment in recent years and there are now several operators who are working hard to re-establish the Park’s great reputation.

Activities in Kafue will include game drives, walking safaris, bird watching, boat cruises and fishing trips.

We personally know all the safari operators found in this area and no one can put together a better Kafue weekend safari itinerary for you than us.
